Two separate cyber fraud cases involved victims duped into downloading malicious APK files that compromised their mobile phones and banking details. In Chandigarh, retired Army officer Col Rajbir Singh Duggal lost over Rs 12 lakh after responding to a fake courier service call and installing a malicious file. In Pune, a man was defrauded of Rs 2.75 lakh after opening a fraudulent APK claiming to show an RTO traffic violation. Police warn against downloading unknown APKs and advise verifying sources before making payments.
