Punjab and Haryana Courts Award Compensation in Fatal Road Accident Cases

Two recent rulings in Punjab and Haryana courts addressed compensation in fatal motor vehicle accidents. In Mohali, a tribunal awarded ₹39 lakh to the family of a 44-year-old teacher killed while crossing the road, calculating loss based on her salary and future prospects. Separately, the Punjab and Haryana High Court increased compensation from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹7.6 lakh for a 13-year-old student who died in 2006, applying minimum wage standards for skilled workers to assess loss of income.
