Chinese Fugitive Caught After Living as Dead Twin Brother for 19 Years
A Chinese fugitive surnamed Chen evaded arrest for 24 years by assuming his deceased twin brother's identity after the brother died in a 2007 road accident. Chen was wanted for a 2002 robbery and kidnapping in Yuhuan, Zhejiang province, where six co-suspects were arrested but he escaped. Police believed Chen was dead after his household registration was canceled, but the case reopened in 2026 when investigators, aided by the deceased brother's ex-girlfriend, uncovered the deception and arrested him.
