The Bombay High Court on January 20, 2024, denied bail to Yusuf Khan, a veterinary doctor accused in the 2022 murder of Amravati pharmacist Umesh Kolhe. Kolhe was killed after sharing a social media post supporting former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, whose remarks sparked outrage. The court cited prima facie evidence of a conspiracy and described the crime as a grave act intended to instill terror in society. Khan's defense claimed a business dispute, but the court found his actions part of a coordinated plan under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
