Five individuals were arrested in the Papum Reserve Forest for illegal activities including setting fires, felling trees, and sawing timber. Forest officials seized chainsaws, a mobile phone, machetes, and tractor keys. The arrested were fined ₹50,000 by the Divisional Forest Officer, Pakke Tiger Reserve, under relevant wildlife and forest protection acts. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb forest offenses despite manpower shortages.
