Punjab Vigilance Bureau Arrests ASI for Bribery Amid Broader Anti-Corruption Drive

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has intensified its anti-corruption efforts, arresting Assistant Sub-Inspector Jasvir Singh from Kharar police station for accepting a Rs 15,000 bribe linked to an assault case investigation. The arrest followed a complaint and recorded evidence from the complainant. In January, the VB apprehended 11 individuals, including 10 government officials, in eight bribery cases, resulting in convictions and sentences up to four years. Investigations and legal proceedings are ongoing.
