Kouri Richins, a Utah author, was convicted of aggravated murder for poisoning her husband Eric Richins with a lethal dose of fentanyl in March 2022. Prosecutors said she aimed to inherit his estate worth over $4 million while facing $4.5 million in debt and having an extramarital affair. She was also found guilty of attempted murder, insurance fraud, and forgery. Richins had self-published a children's book on grief after her husband's death, which prosecutors used as part of their case. Sentencing is scheduled for May 13.
