A fire broke out in a five-storey residential building in Ghaziabad's Sangam Vihar area, trapping residents in about 40-45 flats. The blaze, likely caused by a short circuit in an electrical panel near the parking area, filled the building with thick smoke. Firefighters rescued around 150 people over nearly three hours. Two residents, Rajendra Kumar (or Prasad) and his wife Meena (or Meenu), died days later from burn injuries or smoke inhalation during treatment in Delhi hospitals. Several others were hospitalized, with many discharged.
