Pune city police data for 2025 indicates a significant improvement in conviction rates for judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) courts, rising to 38% from 34% in 2024 and 5% in 2023. The number of accused convicted in JMFC courts also increased. Police attribute this rise to enhanced investigation standards and prosecutor coordination. Conviction rates in sessions courts showed an increase to 19% in 2025 from 12% in 2024, though the pattern was uneven. Narcotics-related offenses nearly doubled in 2025.
