An off-duty Air India Express pilot, Captain Virendra Sejwal, was arrested and subsequently released on bail in connection with an alleged assault on passenger Ankit Dewan at Delhi's IGI Airport on December 19. The incident reportedly occurred near a security checkpoint after an argument over queue-jumping. Police have collected CCTV footage and recorded statements. Sejwal was booked under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to causing hurt and criminal intimidation. Air India Express has removed him from duties pending an internal inquiry.
