Five Arrested in Karnataka for Using Students' Bank Accounts in Cybercrime Scheme

Karnataka Police arrested five individuals involved in a cybercrime racket that targeted students in Gadag city by promising fake scholarships to open bank accounts. The accused, including Vakdoth Vakeel and Raja, convinced students to open accounts at Bank of Maharashtra, deposited initial funds to appear legitimate, and collected account credentials to facilitate illegal transactions. The police seized 11 mobile phones and 18 bank kits, while a key handler named Kumar remains at large. The case was registered on March 11 under cybercrime and related legal provisions.
