
Authorities in Kanpur have frozen assets worth Rs 9.5 crore linked to Vinod Agrawal, identified as the kingpin of an interstate codeine-based cough syrup trafficking network. The seized assets include five immovable properties, a vehicle, and six bank accounts. The investigation involves alleged illegal procurement and distribution of nearly 26 lakh bottles over two years, with about 11.5 lakh recovered and 8.5 lakh untraced. The probe spans Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Bihar, involving multiple police teams and scrutiny of pharmaceutical firms and medical stores.
