
Two U.S. cybersecurity professionals, Ryan Goldberg and Kevin Martin, have pleaded guilty to conspiring to interfere with commerce through extortion. They are accused of working with the ransomware gang ALPHV Blackcat to encrypt U.S. companies' networks and extort millions in cryptocurrency. Both defendants, who previously worked for cybersecurity firms, face up to 20 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for March.
