A farmer, T. Sakthivel, 55, and his wife S. Amirtham, 40, were found charred to death in their hut in Tiruvannamalai. The hut was reportedly locked from the outside before being set on fire by unidentified individuals. Sakthivel was a former ward councillor and DMK cadre. The couple had met while working on a paddy farm and were living in the hut. Police have formed special teams to investigate the incident and apprehend the suspects.
