The incident occurred around 8:30 PM near the Jayamartanda Gate, a busy area due to Christmas vacation crowds. While some reports initially suggested two fatalities, officials confirmed one death, identified as the balloon seller. The injured were hospitalized, and authorities are investigating the cause of the blast.
