Third Suspect Arrested in Gurdaspur Police Killings Near India-Pakistan Border

On February 22, ASI Gurnam Singh and home guard Ashok Kumar were found shot dead at a checkpost near the India-Pakistan border in Gurdaspur. Punjab Police identified three suspects—Ranjit Singh, Inderjit Singh, and Dilawar Singh—allegedly acting under Pakistan-based handlers linked to the ISI. Dilawar and Inderjit have been arrested, while Ranjit died in a police encounter after fleeing custody. Ranjit's family and some political leaders have questioned the encounter and called for a judicial probe.
