DRI Busts Trans-Border Gold Smuggling Syndicate, Seizes 15 Kg Gold in Delhi
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Delhi dismantled a trans-border gold smuggling syndicate, seizing 15 kg of foreign-origin gold valued at approximately Rs 21.40 crore. The gold, concealed inside gear parts in a courier from Thailand, included eight disc-shaped pieces weighing 1.5 kg each. Four individuals, including a repeat offender and a foreign national, were arrested. Preliminary investigations indicate cryptocurrency was used to finance the smuggling across borders.
