Mumbai's fire brigade inspected 1,221 establishments, including hotels, pubs, and restaurants, between December 22 and 26 ahead of New Year celebrations. Of these, 59 were found violating fire safety norms and faced action, while 20 received notices. The drive, prompted by recent fatal fires, aims to ensure compliance with safety regulations under the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act. Inspections are ongoing, with a warning issued to owners regarding potential penalties for non-compliance.
