Seven Arrested in Tribal Village Head's Murder Over Land Dispute in Jharkhand

Seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder of tribal village head Soma Munda in Jharkhand's Khunti district. Munda, who also contested the 2024 assembly elections, was shot dead on January 7 over a land dispute involving 3.16 acres. Police stated Munda and villagers opposed attempts to sell the land, traditionally used for a fair, leading to a conspiracy and his subsequent murder. A manhunt continues for two shooters and others involved.
