EOW Charges Seven for Misuse of School Construction Funds in Kupwara

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Kashmir's Crime Branch has charged seven individuals for misappropriating Rs 5,73,592 allocated under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan scheme for a school building project in Hampora Kralgund, Kupwara. Investigation revealed that while the main school structure was built, essential components like the kitchen, toilet, and ramp were not constructed. Officials allegedly bypassed guidelines by awarding the contract outside the village education committee, altered the approved site plan, and failed to formalize the building's handover, enabling illegal occupation.
