Indian-Origin Doctor Charged in Daughter's Death After Pool Incident in Florida

In June 2025, Dr. Neha Gupta called 911 reporting her four-year-old daughter, Aria Talathi, was found unresponsive at the bottom of a pool in their Florida rental. Despite resuscitation efforts, Aria died at the hospital. An autopsy revealed no water in her lungs, indicating she was dead before being placed in the pool, with signs of asphyxiation. Gupta, a pediatrician from Oklahoma City, was charged with second-degree murder amid an ongoing custody dispute with her ex-husband, who was unaware of the trip.
