In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, the main accused in the murder of a Dalit woman and the abduction of her daughter has been sent to 14 days of judicial custody. The abducted woman, Ruby, stated in court that the accused, Paras, forcibly took her after killing her mother, Sunita, who had intervened. Paras claimed innocence, alleging a consensual relationship and that Ruby accompanied him willingly. Ruby was sent to a One-Stop Centre for support.
