Man Arrested for Allegedly Defrauding Indore Woman by Posing as Navy Officer
Madhya Pradesh police arrested 29-year-old Jitendra Kumar Chonkar from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly defrauding an Indore woman of Rs 26.86 lakh. Posing as a Merchant Navy officer on a matrimonial website, he promised marriage and obtained money under various pretexts, including a false claim of blood cancer treatment. Chonkar was apprehended at Delhi's airport on June 27 while attempting to travel to Russia. Investigations revealed he had worked as a construction supervisor in Moscow, and a case is ongoing.
