Surat Man Arrested for Recording Wife's Self-Immolation Amid Marital Dispute

In Surat, a woman named Pratimadevi self-immolated on January 4 following a marital dispute involving their children. Her husband, Ranjit Saha, allegedly told her to burn herself and recorded the incident instead of intervening. Pratimadevi was hospitalized but died on January 11. Police registered cases against Saha for cruelty and abetment of suicide after discovering the video on his phone, following suspicions raised by the woman's brother. The couple, originally from Bihar, had married in 2013 and lived in Surat with their three children.
