The goods vehicle had broken down at Markatola Ghat, and two occupants had left to find a mechanic. The truck dragged the vehicle about 30 meters before overturning. Two victims died on the spot, four later at hospital, and the truck driver fled the scene. Injured were sent to Raipur for treatment.
