A 22-year-old man was arrested in Karur district under the POCSO Act for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl. The accused reportedly lured the child with candy and took her to a secluded area. Villagers alerted police after noticing suspicious behavior. Following the arrest, residents protested on the Kulithalai-Manapparai highway, linking the incident to the presence of a nearby TASMAC outlet and demanding action for women and children's safety. Officials assured action, and the protest was withdrawn.
