
A Russian national, Aleksei Leonov, was arrested in North Goa for allegedly murdering two Russian women, Elena Vaneeva and Elena Kasthanova, both aged 37. Vaneeva was killed on January 14 in Morjim by slitting her neck, reportedly after 11 pm, while Kasthanova, believed to be Leonov's live-in partner, was found dead on January 15 in Arambol with her hands tied and throat slit. Police are investigating the motive and have registered separate murder cases, with further probe ongoing.
