Guwahati Police reported significant improvements in crime statistics for 2025. The chargesheet filing rate increased to 68.34%, up from 19.13% in 2021, and the conviction rate rose to 28.5%. Following the implementation of new criminal laws like the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, a conviction rate of 86.84% was noted. Property crimes decreased, with 1,854 cases registered in 2025 compared to 2,804 in 2024 and 3,752 in 2023. Vehicle thefts also saw a substantial drop, and stolen mobile phones were recovered.
