A speeding truck jumped a road divider and collided with an oncoming luxury sleeper bus in Chitradurga, Karnataka, early Thursday, resulting in a fire that killed at least nine people. The bus, traveling from Bengaluru to Gokarna with 29 passengers and three staff, was engulfed in flames. While the bus driver and cleaner survived, the truck driver was among the deceased. Prime Minister Modi announced compensation for the victims.
