The CBI is expanding its investigation into a bribery case involving the CGST department in Jhansi. Following the arrest of a deputy commissioner, two superintendents, an advocate, and hardware/plywood business owners, investigators are examining digital evidence, financial trails, and property investments. Recovered WhatsApp chats and call records suggest a well-organized syndicate extorted traders to settle tax evasion cases, with alleged illegal earnings invested in real estate. The probe aims to uncover a deep-rooted corruption network within the CGST Jhansi unit.
