
British actor John Alford, known for his roles in "Grange Hill" and "London's Burning," died in prison at HMP Bure, Norfolk, on March 13, 2026, at age 54. He was serving an eight-and-a-half-year sentence after being convicted of sexually assaulting two teenage girls in 2022. The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman is investigating his death, with the cause not yet disclosed. Alford's trial took place under his real name, John Shannon, at St Albans Crown Court in 2025.
