Muzaffarnagar Court Acquits 37 Accused in 2013 Riots Case for Lack of Evidence

A Muzaffarnagar court acquitted 37 individuals accused in the 2013 communal riots case involving the killing of eight people, citing insufficient evidence. Additional District and Sessions Judge Manjula Bhalotiya ruled that the prosecution failed to prove charges beyond reasonable doubt. The riots resulted in over 60 deaths and displaced more than 40,000 people. The complaint alleged that a mob attacked minority community homes, setting houses on fire and looting properties in Kutba village.
