Mumbai Customs seized over 180 tonnes of smuggled high-speed diesel hidden in water tanks aboard the cargo barge MV Tina 4 off the Mumbai coast. The vessel's master and the owner's son were arrested following a mid-sea raid based on specific intelligence. The diesel, reportedly sourced from foreign vessels, was intended for local coastal boats and factories to evade customs duty. One water tank was found to be unapproved by the Indian Register of Shipping. Authorities are investigating a possible larger smuggling network with more arrests expected.
