Fourth Hearing in Zubeen Garg Death Case Held; Bail Pleas Scheduled for January 22

The fourth hearing in the death case of Zubeen Garg was held on January 17 at the District Sessions Judge's court in Guwahati, with all five accused appearing virtually from jail. Bail applications from the accused—Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddharth Sharma, Amritprava Mahanta, Sandeepan Garg, and Nandeshwar Bora—are scheduled for hearing on January 22. The Assam government plans to oppose Amritprava Mahanta's bail. Charge framing and related proceedings are set for January 30. Both defense and prosecution have appointed senior legal teams, with Zubeen Garg's wife also engaging a personal lawyer to assist the prosecution.
