Following repeated pleas from Ankita Bhandari's parents, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recommended a CBI investigation into the 2022 murder case. The Congress party has demanded the CBI conclude its probe within six months, free from political pressure, and investigate the alleged "VIP angle" and evidence destruction. An FIR has also been filed to identify potential VIPs involved, based on a complaint by environmentalist Anil Prakash Joshi, who cited allegations of concealed evidence and external influence.
