Customs Seize Rs 70.66 Lakh Gold from Melbourne Passenger at Amritsar Airport
Customs officials at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar seized 484 grams of 24-carat gold valued at approximately Rs 70.66 lakh from a male passenger arriving from Melbourne via Kuala Lumpur on July 1. The gold, consisting of two bangles and one chain, was recovered after detailed screening and a personal search. The passenger was arrested, and investigations are ongoing to determine the source and destination of the gold. Authorities have intensified surveillance to prevent gold smuggling.
