
Punjab Police conducted a statewide Cordon and Search Operation on January 17, targeting 831 drug hotspots across all 28 districts as part of the ongoing 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' campaign. The operation, supervised by senior officials including DGP Gaurav Yadav, led to 227 arrests and recovery of narcotics such as heroin, opium, ganja, and intoxicant tablets. Since March 2025, over 45,000 drug smugglers have been arrested, with extensive seizures and efforts to facilitate de-addiction across the state continuing under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's directives.
