India has initiated the process to extradite Hussain Mohammed Shattaf from the UAE in connection with the 2006 murder of retired Merchant Navy Captain Manmohan Singh Virdi in Lonavala. Shattaf, who allegedly fled India using forged documents, faces charges including murder, forgery, and obtaining a passport falsely. The Ministry of External Affairs has forwarded the extradition request, underscoring India's commitment to repatriating fugitives. Authorities believe Shattaf has been living illegally in the UAE since his Indian passport expired in 2021.
