The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Krishna Kumar Lakhwani, a Kanpur-based recruiter, for allegedly facilitating the trafficking of Indian nationals to cyber scam compounds in Cambodia and other countries. He reportedly charged job seekers USD 300-400, promising legitimate roles like data entry or customer support, but victims were coerced into cyber fraud targeting Indians. The trafficked individuals faced intimidation, passport confiscation, and wrongful confinement. The arrest followed surveillance and examination of Lakhwani's mobile phone, revealing recruitment evidence.
