
A Kerala court sentenced B Ramachandran, former Ernakulam Additional District Magistrate, to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and fined him Rs five lakh for accepting a bribe in 2015. The bribe was demanded to issue a No Objection Certificate for renewing a fireworks shop licence in Tripunithura. Vigilance officials caught Ramachandran accepting the bribe following a complaint by the applicant. The sentences will run concurrently under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
