FBI Arrests Teen for Alleged ISIS-Inspired Mall of America Attack Plot
Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud, an 18-year-old Minnesota resident, was arrested by the FBI for allegedly planning a mass shooting at the Mall of America during a scheduled Hmong arts celebration. Undercover agents supplied him with an AK-47 and ammunition after nearly two years of investigation involving extensive communication with a confidential informant. Authorities say Mohamud expressed intent to target non-Muslims and had shown interest in joining ISIS or carrying out attacks inspired by previous terror incidents. He was arrested immediately after purchasing the weapon in Richfield.
