Delhi Traffic Police issued 868 challans for drunken driving on New Year's Eve, a 56% increase from the previous year's 558. Special enforcement teams and breathalyser tests were deployed across major roads and nightlife hubs, including Connaught Place and Hauz Khas. A 20,000-strong police force also maintained law and order. The intensified drive aimed to deter drunk driving, a significant cause of road accidents.
