Odisha Vigilance Seizes Over Rs 4 Crore Cash from Mines Official in Bribery Case

Odisha Vigilance arrested Debabrata Mohanty, Deputy Director of Mines, for allegedly accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe from a licensed coal vendor. Subsequent searches at his Bhubaneswar flat, parental home, and office uncovered over Rs 4 crore in cash—the highest-ever seizure by the agency—along with about 130 grams of gold and a double-storey house. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered, and investigations into the source of assets and further recoveries are ongoing.
