Nearly eight years after the 2018 custodial death of 17-year-old Yeshhu Shambhu Gavli in Mumbai, police have registered an FIR against four Railway Police Force officials, including then Sub-Inspector Suresh Atri. The case follows a judicial inquiry that found them responsible for causing grievous hurt. The minor was detained on suspicion of theft, showed a foot fracture during medical examination, and died after health deterioration. Initial reports cited accidental death, but a second post-mortem attributed death to respiratory complications and injury.
