
A 30-year-old woman in Navi Mumbai has been arrested for allegedly strangling her six-year-old daughter. Police state the motive was the mother's desire for a son and dissatisfaction with the child speaking Hindi instead of Marathi. The woman, a science graduate undergoing treatment for depression, initially claimed the child died of illness. A post-mortem revealed suffocation, leading to a murder charge. She has been remanded to police custody.
