A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Arunachal Pradesh police arrested Kettum Taipodia from Lower Siang district on December 23. Taipodia, a former member of the National Liberation Council of Taniland (NLCT) and allegedly involved in extortion activities, was arrested in connection with a case lodged at Nirjuli police station. He had previously been arrested in 2011 for extortion and underwent training with the NSCN (IM) in 2010. Several members of the United Tani Army (UTA), a group formed by a former NLCT chairman, have been arrested recently.
