
Bengaluru police conducted a special enforcement drive across 13 police station limits in the North Division from the evening of March 6 to the morning of March 7, targeting public smoking and violations of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003. The operation resulted in 40 cases being registered and fines imposed on 295 individuals. Authorities also inspected commercial establishments for illegal tobacco advertisements. Officials stated that such drives will continue to promote compliance with anti-tobacco regulations and discourage public smoking.
