Pune Police Arrest Doctor and Agent in Illegal Prenatal Sex Determination Case

Pune police arrested Dr. Akash Malgunde and agent Narendra Thakare for operating an illegal prenatal sex determination racket at Life Care Clinic in Shirur taluka. Acting on a tip-off, authorities conducted a sting operation using decoy patients, seizing equipment, abortion medicines, and a vehicle worth Rs 7.73 lakh. The accused allegedly used a mobile app and sonography for sex determination. They have been booked under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, with investigations ongoing.
