A special PMLA court in Shimla has declared Mandeep Rana and his mother Ashoni Kanwar, promoters of Himachal Pradesh-based Manav Bharti University, as fugitive economic offenders. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) alleges they obtained over Rs 387 crore through the sale of fake degrees. The duo, based in Australia, did not comply with court summons, leading to open-ended non-bailable warrants. The ED will now seek to confiscate their assets under the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act.
