In separate incidents in Manipur's Imphal East district, security forces arrested two individuals, Thoudam Ranjan Singh and Karam Mani Meitei, on January 1 and 3, 2026, respectively. Nine 9mm cartridges were seized from Singh, while a 9mm pistol with a magazine was recovered from Meitei. Both were apprehended from their residences or localities. The arrests were made based on intelligence inputs, and the individuals are accused of arms smuggling, facing charges under the Arms Act.
